The return of NFL games on Sunday this season has boosted restaurant sales of beer. According to a <a href="http://www.foxbusiness.com/features/2017/09/16/nfls-return-boosted-beer-consumption-36-on-opening-sunday.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=fox-business-nfls-return-boosted-beer-consumption-36-on-opening-sunday-2704228" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">recent Fox Business article</a>, total beer consumption increased 36.6 percent on the first Sunday of the NFL season compared to the same day a week earlier and sales volume increased by 7.2 percent compared to same Sunday season opener in 2016.

Domestic beers dominated with 50.5 percent of beer drinkers choosing beers from the United States, with the majority of consumers choosing Miller Lite or Bud Light instead of craft beers. Though, imported and craft beers did see an increase compared to last year&rsquo;s season opener.

The most popular beverage category for Americans continues to be beer as U.S. consumers spent $37 billion on beer at retail stores according to Nielsen in the year-long period leading up to February 2017.
