Fox Business: Shake Shack CEO: It’s the Anti-Chain Chain

Shake Shack is standing out from the crowd in the fast-casual world.

While many brands in the fast-casual restaurant industry are struggling with decreasing sales or closing doors, Shake Shack is thriving. According to a recent Fox Business article, Shake Shack reported a total revenue increase of close to 42% at $76.6 million. The brand plans to open 24 locations in the U.S. and a dozen internationally as well this year, its largest growth so far.

“You look at how the retailers today are not experiential, the ones that are growing are giving you the best total experience. And we’re doing that at Shake Shack for the humble hamburger. So much of the new dollars are going online, going to Amazon, so we’ve got to be a place where people want to come hang out for that Little League game or that date,” said Randy Garutti, CEO of Shake Shack.

Garutti also mentions that as the brand continues to grow, it must still act small. Wherever the newest location is in the world, the brand hopes to team up with local chefs that are the best around, making Shake Shack the anti-chain, chain.
