Fox Business: What Restaurants are Doing to Attract Millennials

Fatburger CEO Andy Wiederhorn discusses how the restaurant chain is trying to win over millennials and tips for other brands.

Restaurants are finding that the younger generation is key to their future success. According to a recent Fox Business article, restaurants are starting to offer more vegetarian and healthy options in hopes to bring in millennials. Chipotle announced this week that they would start to test out quinoa as a base for their bowls and Fatburger said they have been testing out a plant-based protein burger, noticing that consumers are willing to pay more for healthier options.

“You have to innovate, and you have to pay attention to what your customers want,” said Fatburger CEO Andy Wiederhorn. “If you add healthy options or lighter menu options to include everybody, whether it’s some sort of vegetarian product or chicken product, that’s just to round everything out and give those people what they want to avoid the ‘no’ vote.”

In Chipotle’s case, the brand needs to regain customer’s trust after a series of food-safety issues and Wiederhorn believes it’s going to take much more than quinoa to help fix that.
