The franchise industry is filled with a bevy of different companies, and in turn, a whole lot of employees. Each company will have their ups and downs when it comes to hiring, but the industry as a whole recorded a successful month in December 2015, according to the December 2015 ADP National Franchise Report from the ADP Research Institute .

Franchises in the U.S. added 48,600 jobs during the month, almost doubling the metric that was recorded in November 2015. Leading the charge in the December surge of job improvement is the restaurant industry, which added 32,800 new jobs, a 0.7 percent increase from November. But those weren’t the only franchise industries that saw growth over the past month. Auto parts and dealers and food retailers saw jumps of 0.6 and 0.1 percent, respectively. Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and head of the ADP Research Institute, said in a statement that the success franchises saw in December was a catalyst to the country’s overall job growth during the month.

“Franchise employment growth finished strong in December, adding the second most jobs of any month in 2015,” Yildirmaz said. “Restaurants had their second biggest month of the year, accounting for two-thirds of the jobs added this month.”

Steve Catanese, Vice President of Operations at Buffalo Wings & Rings, said the recent report is a reflection of out how strong the franchise industry is.

“I think what you are seeing is that franchising is still a powerful vehicle for people to achieve the dream of business ownership and being their own boss,” Catanese said. “It provides all the elements necessary to be successful as long as the franchisee brings the passion, dedication and discipline to execute the business model. People are willing to invest in themselves and franchising lets them do it.”

He went on to say Buffalo Wings & Rings has seen an increase in inquiries about franchising within the past 24 months.

The country as a whole saw an addition of 257,000 jobs in December, which was a rise from November’s total of 217,000 and far surpassed October’s growth of 182,000.
