The Golden Arches Ruling


The National Labor Relations Board’s counsel finds that McDonald’s shares accountability with restaurant owners over how employees are treated. This decision hands a victory to union activities. This is a large dispute between labor groups and retail organizations, and McDonald’s plans on challenging this ruling. (Bloomberg)


Franchise growth slows in July


According to the latest National Employment Report from the human resources firm ADP employment growth in the franchise sector slowed down. The most notable decline was in restaurants with .1 percent growth in July. (Franchise Times)


Jamba Juice is on the Hunt         


Jamba Juice has plans to open 500 stores in the U.S in the next five years. This is a significant growth for the company. They are currently looking to draw in new franchisees with a 50 percent reduction in initial franchise fees and a three-year graduated royalty reduction plan. (Entrepreneur)


Menchie’s Opens in Chicago


Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt has opened their first Chicago location on the corner of Clybourn and Wrightwood. The self-serve frozen yogurt store features arts and crafts, music and indoor/outdoor seating. They will be having a week long Grand Opening. (Fast Casual)
