Guillermo Perales will serve as chair for franchising's premier event for multi-unit franchisees, franchisors, and suppliers on April 23-26, 2017, according to a recent Franchising.com article.

Perales is the founder and CEO of Sun Holdings, which operates restaurants for brands including Burger King, Arby’s, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Krispy Kreme, T-Mobile—just to name a few. Overseeing the operation of more than 700 restaurants and retail units, he certainly understands the ins and outs of franchising, and the challenges the industry currently faces.

"In spite of today's overreaching government regulations--minimum wage, joint employer, healthcare, unionization, and more--franchising is still the best way to fulfill the American dream of business ownership," Perales says.

Perales began his own American dream with the start of his franchising career in 1997 when he became a franchisee of one Golden Coral location—and he hasn’t looked back since. He is now one of the 10 largest franchisees in the U.S. and the largest Latino franchise operator in the country.

Perales intends to be very involved in the conference planning process and aims for sessions and content to be relevant for both veteran and new multi-unit operators.

"The upcoming conference will provide multi-unit franchisees with the content, insights, and best practices they need to adapt and grow in the current environment," Perales says.

This will not be the first community leadership or industry board Perales has served on. He has been involved with the Multi-Unit Franchising Conference Advisory Board and the IFA's Board of Directors, and received many awards including IFA's 2015 Entrepreneur of the Year, 2016 101 Most Influential Latinos by Latino Leader magazine, and Multi-Unit Franchisee magazine's 2013 American Dream Award.
