The number of franchise units is expected to hit&nbsp;805,000 in 2023, according to the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.franchisetimes.com/franchise_news/franchise-sales-look-optimistic-for-franchisors-targeting-younger-franchisees/article_a427ef34-cf0b-11ed-ac2b-8bdc0e16f179.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=franchisors-like-pizzeria-uno-can-expect-big-sales-in-2023-2722201" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">International Franchise Association’s 2023 economic outlook</a>. This is almost a 2% increase from last year.&nbsp;Despite recession concerns, developers are optimistic about franchise sales this year, and franchisors are targeting a younger demographic.&nbsp;Pizzeria Uno saw a lot of growth in 2022 and opened six new units, four of which are located in full-service hotels. The pizza franchise sold its manufacturing business in February to be able to put more resources into franchising.&nbsp;Pizzeria Uno now has a path-to-ownership program targeted toward store managers. These managers would likely not be able to afford to open the store on their own, but with this program, they have a greater chance at success.&nbsp;“We save a lot on training. We’re waiving the franchise fees. They just have to have skin in the game and, frankly, enough working capital so that they can navigate some of the bumps in the night,” said CEO Erik Frederick.
