In January 2025, Fresh Coat Painters franchisees gathered in Orlando, Florida, for an exciting conference focused on growing their businesses through strengthening client relationships. This event, called “The Fresh Coat Experience,” provided valuable insights and practical strategies for franchisees to enhance their operations and boost profitability.
We were really excited about the conference," said Lisa Hudson, brand president. "We called it 'The Fresh Coat Experience: Building Profit Through Building Relationships,' and that's exactly what we did. We took them on a journey through all the different steps, from finding a lead to ultimately using them as a resource to capture business.
The conference focused on developing and nurturing client relationships for long-term success.
We guided our franchisees through a comprehensive process of client acquisition and relationship management," Hudson said. "This included strategies for sourcing leads within their communities, preparing for client consultations, delivering effective quotes, and ultimately, cultivating loyal customers who provide repeat business and valuable referrals. We also explored avenues for expanding beyond residential projects and establishing strong relationships within the commercial sector and the support Fresh Coat National Accounts team provides.
“Our Franchise Advisory Council was very clear that their favorite part of the conference was spending time with other owners and hearing what they had to say," Hudson said. "Protecting the time after an educational session allowed them to do just that—discuss their own best practices and collaborate to understand how lessons learned could apply to real-life scenarios they would encounter in the future.
To succeed, franchisees must focus on key performance indicators and take action based on them while building client relationships and integrating into their communities. Hudson emphasizes the value of keeping an eye on metrics like how many quotes a franchisee completes and how many deals are closed. When franchisees are both aware of what metrics they should pay attention to and the steps they can take to perform, they’re set up for success from the start.
“Building profit through building relationships is really all about serving the needs of the client. They call us and tell us what they want, and we make sure they get it,” Hudson said. “If an owner gets too caught up in the ‘Sell, sell, sell’ mentality, it’s less about the client. If they follow the process and make sure the client is delighted, the deals will come and the profits will grow. The conference was all about providing more scaffolding for that process.”
Looking ahead, Hudson and the team are focused on continued growth and success for the brand. With over 190 franchise locations nationwide and plans to cross the 200-unit mark soon, Fresh Coat Painters is attracting passionate and qualified entrepreneurs to establish itself as a truly iconic painting brand.
