The Hackley and Hume Historic Site in Muskegon, Michigan — a landmark for more than 130 years — is undergoing a major restoration this year, with Fresh Coat Painters leading the efforts. Franchisee Alex Fonseca and his team are working meticulously to restore the site's original paint from 1887, using a paint-by-number system developed over the years.

“When you're looking from the ground up, you know, you don't necessarily see all the areas that are rotted,” Fonseca told FOX17. “So, you think maybe it's just the paint that's chipping, until you get to it and start scraping.”

The restoration involves careful scraping and sanding of peeling paint, a labor-intensive process necessary to maintain the historic integrity of the buildings. Those interested can keep up to date with the restoration at Hackley and Hume on their social media pages.
