From Donuts to Bagels: Krispy Kreme Executive Joins Panera Bread as President and CEO

Industry-experienced Niren Chaudhary will join Panera Bread in May 2019.

After nearly nine years with Panera Bread, Blaine Hurst, announced his retirement as CEO and will remain on the executive board as vice chairman. In his place, COO and President of Krispy Kreme International, Niren Chaudhary has been named CEO and President of the company.

“Hurst will work alongside Chaudhary to ensure a smooth transition,” stated Nation’s Restaurant News. While a difficult decision, Hurst is thankful and delighted to have someone as experienced and passionate as Chaudhary fulfilling his position. Chaudhary has 23 years of working with Yum Brands in various executive positions and overall more than 25 years of experience, specifically in international corporate leadership.

According to Nation’s Restaurant News, Chaudhary is looking forward to “growing one of the world’s best food companies” and working with the talented people of Panera, from its employees to its franchisees.
