As a multi-brand franchisor with over 250 locations nationwide, FSC Franchise Co. has built an impressive portfolio led by a team of established industry experts. This scale is just part of what makes franchise opportunities with FSC portfolio brands attractive. For franchise owners, it’s also important to note that while the leadership team prides itself on the support systems it has built, it recognizes the need for ongoing evolution and improvement.
“What can we do to continue to make our franchisees more successful?” Alan Rogers, vice president of organizational learning and development at FSC, said in a recent webinar. “There’s always competition out in the marketplace. There’s always different constraints on businesses that are getting tighter and tighter. So we just have to keep evolving and keep making sure that our processes do that as well. Our goal isn’t to make training shorter; it’s to make learning faster.”
Depending on the brand and the need, this can manifest in different ways. For example, Jim Keenam, director of franchise operations at The Brass Tap, recently developed a job description for a new support role a franchisee wanted to add at their location.
“I walked them through what I thought the job could be, I put all my notes together, and I sent it to Alan,” Keenam said. “Alan now has a job description for that. He now has a complete hiring guide for that. And he’s put together everything you need to hire a person… When a franchisee has a fear or something they need help with, we’re all over it for them.”
This level of responsiveness and support has built confidence throughout the system with both franchise owners and the leadership team, allowing everyone to trust that current needs are being addressed in a timely manner and opening capacity to look toward the future.
“What keeps me up isn’t necessarily ‘What are we not providing?’” Rogers said. “It’s ‘What’s around the corner that we need to anticipate and be ready for?’”
