Great Clips Ranks No. 13 on Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 List for 2021

Great Clips ranked No. 13 on Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2021 Franchise 500 list.

Entrepreneur’s annual list examines trends in the franchising industry. To be eligible for this year’s list, franchisors had to be seeking new franchisees in the U.S. and/or Canada and have a minimum of 10 units open and operating as of mid-2020. More than 1,100 brands applied to make this year’s ranking.

Those selected to be on the coveted list were evaluated for factors such as costs and fees, franchisee support, size and growth, brand strength and financial strength and stability.

Great Clips was founded in 1982 and started franchising in 1983. Now, the brand has more than 4,400 locations throughout the United States and Canada. Usually located in strip malls, Great Clips hair salons are open evenings and weekends and do not require appointments. No hair-care experience is required for franchisees, who operate five to six units after five years on average. The initial franchise fee is $20,000 with a 6% royalty fee.

Last year, Great Clips ranked No. 15 on Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 list.
