Greater Baton Rouge Business Report: Checkers looking to re-enter Baton Rouge market after long absence

Checkers & Rally’s Restaurants Inc. is looking for franchisees to break back into the Baton Rouge market.

Checkers & Rally's Restaurant Inc. is joining the growing number of burger restaurants developing in the Baton Rouge, La., area, with plans to open 10 to 15 locations in the market. The burger chain is currently searching for new existing or new franchisees to bring the brand back to the community within the next year.

"It typically takes about 12 months to go from franchisee approval to getting a restaurant open," Jennifer Durham, VP of Franchise Development for Checkers, told the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report.

While there has been a trend of gourmet burger concepts entering the market, Durham is confident that Checkers will stand out with its value.

"We have always been about three things: value, flavor and convenience. And we stand out for options at and below that $5 price point,” Durham told the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report.

The value that Checkers offers can be applied to potential franchisees as well.

"The average investment is just over $400,000, not including site work and real estate...so franchisees can enter for about half the price of other quick-service restaurants," said Durham.
