As Dairy Queen plans further expansion in Idaho, one target market is Pocatello. While there has been Dairy Queen locations in Pocatello in the past, the company is looking to go back into the community due to the recent economic growth.

“It’s just a matter of finding the right franchisee, the right realtor and the right location,”  Mike Mettler, VP of Franchise Sales & Development, told Idaho State Journal.

The new location will follow the DQ Grill and Chill concept as being a quick-serve restaurant, opposed to just a treat shop. The new Grill and Chill locations have proven to be profitable in the past, out of the 82 Dairy Queen locations opened last year 81 of them were the Grill and Chill concept. The company hopes to bring back the beloved Dairy Queen to Pocatella by mid 2018.

"It’s not just the history of the brand, it’s the connection the brand has with the customer,” Mettler told the reporter. “When I travel across the country, I hear stories from people about how important Dairy Queen was in their childhoods.”
