Jan-Pro and Maid Right have an eye on cleaning up in paradise.

For the last year, the residential and commercial cleaning brands have turned their attention to establishing a presence in Hawaii, while also developing a presence in Boise, Idaho; Upstate New York; West Texas; West Michigan; and Grand Rapids, Michigan.

"It's a great market, but we just haven't found the right master franchise candidate, so we're aggressively pursuing that market this year to find the right candidate," Scott Thompson, vice president of franchise development for Jan-Pro and Maid Right, told Pacific Business News. "There's a lot of good business opportunities in Hawaii, and it just makes sense for us to be there."

The brands are looking for a master franchisee for Hawaii, who would then look to bring in a total of 75 to 100 franchisees throughout the state.

"We have competitors that I believe are in Hawaii who do very well, and by us not being there, we're missing opportunities to capture more of the market share," he said. "Anywhere we are in the U.S., we tend to capture more of the market share from our competition because of our level of service, the culture of the company, and some of our technology and costs that we have in place, which differentiate us from others out there."
