After impressive careers, Matt retired in 2008, and Shannon retired just this April. After separating from the Air Force, the two were ready for a change that would allow them to settle down without losing touch with their roots. Now, their Alamo Ranch, Texas&nbsp;<a href="https://www.jdogbrands.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=after-years-of-service-the-scally-family-chose-to-invest-in-jdog-brands-for-an-entrepreneurial-opportunity-true-to-their-military-roots-2719142" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">JDog Junk Removal &amp; Hauling</a> business is set to begin operations in August.“Military branding and conviction were important to us,” Matt said. “We wanted to make sure&nbsp;<a href="https://www.jdogbrands.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=after-years-of-service-the-scally-family-chose-to-invest-in-jdog-brands-for-an-entrepreneurial-opportunity-true-to-their-military-roots-2719142" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">JDog</a> wasn’t another front using military branding as a marketing strategy. But when we met the team, it felt like we were back with military people, and that camaraderie really made us pull the trigger.”Neither was born and raised in the San Antonio area, but they were stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming, before retirement. They decided to relocate to Texas simply because they loved the area.Now, they’re committed to making a difference in their new community.“We really want to build the brand in the San Antonio area and become a pillar in the community,” Matt said. Shannon added, “We’re still putting down roots but are very committed to making a difference here.”Though the first location is opening in August, the Scallys are not stopping at one. Their current agreement includes a total of three territories. Matt explained that they will begin operations with the first territory and commit to building a strong foundation. Within the next year, the pair hopes to become profitable in their first territory and begin growing into the next two.Another goal, though less explicitly business-oriented, is just as close to their hearts.“We also want to make a difference in the community,” he said. “Homelessness and food scarcity are two initiatives we’ve been trying to become involved with and will continue to push as the business grows. If we can make a name for ourselves in that sector, that would be an accomplishment in year one.”As the Scally's look toward opening day, they are excited to kick off operations on August 26th, National Dog Day.
