KFC Adds Chicken & Waffles Meal to its Menu
The chicken chain’s latest LTO is available through December 31.
KFC made a splash Sunday with the debut of its new Dirty Dancing-themed TV spot to promote its latest limited-time menu addition: chicken and waffles.
An AdAge piece described the TV spot as a departure from the brand’s recent string of ads featuring celebrities as Colonel Sanders, with the brand instead opting to reenact the famous dance scene from the end of Dirty Dancing. In the spot, Colonel Sanders plays the role of Patrick Swayze and glides across the floor with Mrs. Butterworth, aka Jennifer Gray.
The LTO that runs through the end of 2018 marks the fried chicken chain’s first foray into the world of the popular sweet and savory dish. AdAge noted the details of the menu add right down to the intense process that came with selecting the waffle batter (it’s actually not even batter - KFC went with Belgian Liege-style waffles, which are made with a yeast-raised dough instead).
