INSIDER Features “Day in the Life” of Layne's Chicken Fingers’ Teenage Store Manager
Jason Cabrera, store manager of the Layne's location in Allen, Texas gives the publication an inside look.
Jason Cabrera, 19-year-old store manager of Layne’s Chicken Fingers in Allen, Texas joined the Layne’s team in late 2018, buttering toast and washing dishes. Now, Cabrera manages 22 employees and earns an annual salary of $50,000.
In a recent interview with Insider, Cabrera shared what it’s like being a teenage manager. After starting his day at 8 a.m., he’s responsible for preparing the store for the day. Following his six-hour shift on the floor, Cabrera is then responsible for all the paperwork and logistical side of managing the store.
Over the last few months in his new roles, Cabrera has had to mature greatly. "When I started working I was still a young kid that liked to have fun," he said. "That was the problem. I had too much fun, but as I started getting into the role, I matured quickly without really noticing," he shared.
Currently, Cabrera spends most of his time recruiting new employees and planning out his future personal and financial goals. He hopes to buy his parents a house, and eventually open up his own Layne’s franchise — and he’s confident about his future with the brand.
