Layne's Chicken Fingers, the Texas-based fast-food concept known for its hand-battered chicken tenders, is setting its sights on multiple locations in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley region as part of its aggressive national expansion strategy, Lehigh Valley News recently reported. 

The brand, which launched in 1994 in College Station, Texas, currently operates 22 locations nationwide and aims to reach 40-45 units by year-end, including an ambitious plan to open nine stores in 90 days. Following successful market penetration in Pittsburgh, where it has opened three locations since 2023, Layne's is strategically moving eastward across Pennsylvania, with additional locations planned for Lancaster and Harrisburg.

"We know we had the success in Pittsburgh, and for me, selfishly, I lived in your area for nine years in the Lehigh Valley. So I know the area pretty well," said Chief Operating Officer Samir Wattar. The company is currently seeking multi-unit franchisees with restaurant experience who align with their culture and values.

CEO Garrett Reed emphasizes the brand's unique position in the fast-food segment. "We're a fast-food restaurant, which means you get your food quick," Reed said. "But what differentiates us is we're a hand-battered, cook-to-order product. So you're getting premium quality at fast-food rates and times."

Once the right franchise partner is identified, Layne's aims to open new locations within six months. The company's expansion strategy focuses first on finding the right operators who understand their local communities, followed by selecting optimal locations. Grand openings typically feature community celebrations, including giveaways such as free chicken for a year for select customers.
