The brand will reward operators who meet the original deadline but will allow an extension of two years.

McDonald’s has officially pushed the deadline for restaurant remodels from 2020 to 2022. According to a recent article in Nation's Restaurant News, this follows pushback that the company received from its operators that the original pace for adopting the Experience of the Future model was unreasonably quick.

Those who adopt the model by 2020 will have 55% of the cost covered by the brand, while those who wait will only have 40% of the funding covered. The remodel costs range from $160,000 to about $750,000.
