McDonald's Franchisees to Discuss Forming Independent Association

If formed, this independent franchisee association would be a first for the fast-food brand.

McDonald’s franchisees scheduled a meeting for Wednesday to discuss possibly forming an independent franchisee association, according to a Restaurant Business report.

Citing a report in the Wall Street Journal, who first reported on the meeting, Restaurant Business confirmed the meeting with sources. McDonald’s operators are mainly concerned with cash flow, as they have spent money in efforts to increase sales at restaurants, including adding kiosks, with little return, according to the article.

“We always welcome and are committed to a constructive, collaborative dialogue with our franchisees,” McDonald’s said in a statement, according to the Restaurant Business article. “We will continue to work closely with our franchisees so they have the support they need to run great restaurants and provide quality experiences and convenience for guests.”
