The switch from frozen to fresh beef has led McDonald&#39;s to see a 30% increase in sales of quarter pounders over the last year, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/24/business/mcdonalds-fresh-beef/index.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=mcdonalds-sells-30-more-quarter-pounders-since-switching-to-fresh-beef-2710316" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">according to CNN Business</a>. Moreover, McDonald&rsquo;s burgers also gained market share within the &ldquo;informal eating out&rdquo; category for the first time in five years.

The switch hasn&rsquo;t been smooth sailing from the start, notes CNN. McDonald&rsquo;s franchisees foot the bill for some of the changes, such as refrigeration and storage updates. The self-funded National Owners Association also formed last year to address concerns of owners, particularly when it came to the company&rsquo;s <a href="https://1851franchise.com/advocacy-group-asks-mcdonald-s-franchisees-to-halt-remodels-2708842" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">remodeling plans</a>.

Ultimately, &ldquo;The franchisees became believers very quickly&rdquo; in regard to the fresh beef change, according to Marion Gross, McDonald&rsquo;s chief supply chain officer for North America.
