After more than 50 years in business, Melting Pot is looking forward to bringing its signature fondue experience back to the Bay Area. The brand sees an opportunity to reestablish itself in the market as conditions become more favorable for family-friendly, experiential dining.

"Family-oriented market segmentation is exactly what Melting Pot is great for, and that's exactly what San Jose has an abundance of," Collin Benyo, franchise growth strategist at Melting Pot, told the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

Melting Pot has previously operated in San Jose, San Mateo and Larkspur. There is a resale opportunity for the Larkspur location, which Benyo is currently discussing with a potential Walnut Creek franchisee, but interest from the broader Bay Area remains steady.

San Jose is a key target for Melting Pot’s development. The city has issued 933 new business tax certificates to food businesses within the past three years, according to a 2025 report, and its restaurant sector reached record sales tax revenue last year. The data suggests more than a restaurant comeback; San Jose is a budding culinary destination.

"San Jose is in our top sites, and we're trying to make sure that we get the word out that this brand is hungry to be back in the Bay Area," Benyo said.
