Detroit will see a new name in the competitive field of coffee shops: Gloria Jean's Coffees.

Gloria Jean's has two locations in the state - one in Portage, near Kalamazoo, and one that opened this spring in Rochester Hills.Now, the franchise-owners, Eric Vo and Sarah Racer, are planning another opening for a second store in Auburn Hills.

"We are looking to build-out in the Midwest," he said this week. 

"We think that there's a number of locations that would work for us," Balconi said. "Historically shopping malls were our bread and butter. We'll continue to be there.

But many locations, like in Auburn Hills, will be inline retail centers or even downtown. Store requirements are about 1,200 square feet.
