Mosquito Joe of Plano, Texas, opened by Steven and Janie Purvis in April 2015, provides outdoor pest control treatments to residential and commercial customers.

The company offers contract-free kid- and pet-friendly services and their most popular treatment is a barrier spray treatment that protects yards for up to three weeks at a time.

“The most important part of our job is to build relationships with our customers and make sure that their needs and concerns are me,” Purvis told the Plano Star Courier. “For most of our customers, the nuisance of mosquitoes impeding their outdoor fun is the main reason they want our services."

Mosquitoes can quickly escalate from outdoor nuisances to health risks, though, according to Purvis.

“Health concerns like allergies or mosquito-contracted illnesses such as West Nile virus ... are a primary driver for seeking protection,” he said. “We love being able to make a contribution to our community by protecting residents from mosquitoes.”

The Plano Mosquito Joe is a locally and veteran-owned business with a commitment to helping other families in the community enjoy the outdoors.

“The biggest surprise is how much our customers really need and appreciate our services,” Purvis said. “We have had customers run up and down the street knocking on other neighbors’ doors to tell them to use our services.”
