Move Over, Big Mac: Burger King Launches Rival BIG KING XL

“With 175% more flame-grilled beef than the Big Mac, just calling it ‘big’ didn’t really cut it,” the burger chain said on Instagram.

Burger King seems to really enjoy trolling McDonald’s, and they’re actually getting quite good at it.

After last month’s stunt where downloading the Burger King app within 600 feet of a McDonald’s earned customers a one cent Whopper, the chain has struck again, this time with a menu addition that closely resembles McDonald’s famous Big Mac.

The BIG KING XL, however, contains 175 percent more beef and cuts out the middle slice of bread, key differences the chain believes makes the burger a better offering than its competitor.

“The BIG KING XL sandwich will make guests want to swap their bread for beef — literally,” Burger King said in a statement.

To further jab its burger-slinging rival, Burger King is offering a promotion at select restaurants in Chicago today where customers with expired MacCoins (from McDonald’s 50th-anniversary celebration of the Big Mac last year) can redeem them for a BIG KING XL.
