Nation's Restaurant News: 6 restaurant brands park on GM dashboards

The Marketplace platform is designed to require minimal attention from the driver.

General Motors will now offer a platform called Marketplace for drivers to order food and make reservations at select restaurants on the dashboard consoles of its vehicles. According to a recent article in Nation's Restaurant News, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, Dunkin’ Donuts, IHOP, Starbucks, TGI Fridays and Wingstop will be the participating brands.

"For most retailers and consumer brands the daily commute is the only time not accessible in a consumers’ day. Marketplace gives merchants the ability to more safely engage with drivers and passengers in a meaningful way that provides true value for our customers," said Santiago Chamorro, VP for global connected customer experience.

The Marketplace platform is designed to be responsive to location and time of day. It requires minimal attention from the driver in order to help them keep their focus on driving safely.
