Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. announced that its payment system may have been hacked after finding unauthorized activity, according to a <a href="http://www.nrn.com/technology/chipotle-says-payment-system-was-hacked?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=nations-restaurant-news-chipotle-says-payment-system-was-hacked-11968" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">recent Nation&rsquo;s Restaurant News article</a>.

The company does not yet know how many restaurants or customers were affected, but CFO Jack Hartung mentioned that Chipotle&rsquo;s credit card system was affected by the activity from March 24 through April 18.

After working with the company&rsquo;s cyber security firm, Hartung said, &ldquo;We believe the actions taken have stopped the unauthorized activity.&rdquo;

Unfortunately, the news came after a strong first quarter earnings report with 17.8-percent same-store sales growth and improved profit margins.
