Nation’s Restaurant News: Del Taco Same-Store Sales Jump 6.7%

Mexican quick-service chain sees growth for the 12th straight quarter due to new higher-end products.

While the competition is heating up in the Mexican restaurant franchise space and many restaurants are struggling to increase same-store sales and traffic, Del Taco is continuing their growth for the 12th straight quarter. According to a recent Nation’s Restaurant News article, Del Taco Restaurants Inc. announced that its same-store sales increased 6.7 percent, traffic rose 2.3 percent, and the average check increased 4.8 percent all in the third quarter.

Executives from the company are crediting the higher-end products that have been added to the chain’s menu for the success. “Through the use of fresh ingredients and product innovation served with the speed and convenience of a drive-thru, we are further differentiating our iconic brand and broadening our appeal,” CEO Paul Murphy said in a statement.

The brand plans to start looking for new franchisees in order to accelerate development and growth. Currently with 546 units, revenue rose to $98.6 million this quarter, a 5.9 percent jump from the last.
