It appears Chipotle is not the only casual Mexican restaurant looking to add queso to the menu. According to an article in Nation's Restaurant News, Del Taco has announced the launch of Queso Blanco--an initiative that the brand has been working on for over a year.

This menu addition comes as a continuation of the brand's QSR Plus strategy, which is focused on delivering premium ingredients to consumers. Queso Blanco will be free of all artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. So far, the strategy has had a major role in increasing Del Taco's sales.

CEO John Cappasola said, "We’ve had proven success with premium ingredient innovation in the past, including fresh sliced avocados and fresh-grilled Carne Asada steak, and we believe queso can play a similar role in our fourth quarter.”
