Nation's Restaurant News: Dunkin’ Donuts blames “choppy” performance on weather, menu changes

Despite challenges, the company remains confident in future growth opportunities.

Growth continues to fluctuate at Dunkin' Donuts. According to a recent article in Nation's Restaurant News, the company believes that the simplification of its menu and winter storms were responsible for less profitable times. 

“Average ticket was up for the quarter, but traffic declined largely as a result of the cold, wet, weather across the country. Despite the negative comp growth, we are optimistic about the strength of our beverage and dessert categories,” said CEO Nigel Travis.

A few of the brand's more successful recent promotions have included the Girl Scout Cookie coffee and donut sales for Valentine's Day. Dunkin' Donuts also celebrated the opening of 56 new locations throughout the quarter.
