Nation's Restaurant News: Habit Restaurants 1Q hurt by free burger promo

For the third consecutive quarter, Habit Restaurants saw same-store sales dip.

Habit Restaurants Inc., the parent company to The Habit Burger Grill, has reported a decline in sales despite its promotional offerings. According to a recent article in Nation's Restaurant News, the company says that same-store sales continued to dip by 1.4 percent even with their annual free burger offering.

"We’re going to take a hard look at the use of free going forward. We need to rework how we execute on it," said CEO Russ Bendel.

That the brand will try to rebuild its sales is by focusing on introducing drive-thru locations and kiosk ordering stations. Habit Restaurants hopes to appeal to wider consumer preferences by making it easier to dine off-premise.
