Nation's Restaurant News: McDonald’s 4Q U.S. same-store sales rise 4.5%

Following the introduction of new menu items and the value system, McDonald's ends the year strong.

McDonald's finished out the year on a strong note. According to a recent article in Nation's Restaurant News, the brand ended their fourth quarter with higher same-sales than they have experienced in over 5 years. The company not only met sales goals, it surpassed them.

"We served more customers more often, achieved our best comparable sales performance in six years, gained share in markets around the world and made tremendous progress with growth platforms such as delivery, mobile order and pay, and Experience of the Future," said CEO Steve Easterbrook.

The brand attributes the sales success in part to new menu offerings including Buttermilk Chicken Tenders as well as the McPick 2 value system. McDonald's has been focused on improving the customer experience through increased convenience.
