A celebrity endorsement can go a long way for brands. That is why Sonic decided to use rapper and actor Ice-T to promote its frozen iced teas this summer, according to a <a href="http://www.nrn.com/marketing/rapper-ice-t-helps-sonic-promote-frozen-teas?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=nations-restaurant-news-rapper-ice-t-helps-sonic-promote-frozen-teas-2703021" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">recent Nation&rsquo;s Restaurant News article</a>. Television ad cameos and a Facebook live contest are both parts of the promotion.

The brand will be tapping into social media starting at 1 p.m. CDT today with a Facebook live event where a life-size sculpture of the celebrity will thaw. The first 100 users to comment on the live stream once the melting Ice-T sculpture drops its microphone will win a cold-activated t-shirt.

&ldquo;The addition of Ice-T to our &lsquo;Two Guys Frozen Sweet Tea&rsquo; spot was the perfect combination to showcase an incredible drink with a winking sense of humor, especially during National Iced Tea Month,&rdquo; said Burke Morley, Sonic&rsquo;s senior director of brand content.
