LA Clippers for an unprecedented $2 billion deal. This would be the highest price paid for any NBA franchise in the history of the league. This comes after Clippers owners Donald Sterling was banned from the
NBA. While Sterling said he would never sell, this comes after he was recently declared “mentally incapacitated” by experts leaving his wife and co-owner Shelly with the power to sell. (

The United States is currently seeing the highest number of Measles cases in 20 years. As of May 23, there were 28 confirmed cases of Measles in the United States, which is the most the U.S. has seen since 1994. This is due to resistance to vaccinations and traveling. The number of cases of this highly contagious repertory disease is expected to rise with the summer travel season approaching. (

Consumer Spending Down
For the first time in a year consumer spending has fallen. In April consumers cut back spending by 0.1 percent. The drop was seen in durable goods, as in automotive spending and heating bills. This is after a 1 percent surge in March. As of now, experts see no need for concern. (

Healthy and Light
A recent analysis from
Nation’s Restaurant News and the market research firm The NPD Group has found that consumers are choosing more healthful and lighter meals while dining out. In March nine percent of consumers said they went to a restaurant for a lighter option meal. A few motivators of this trend include eating healthier, managing weight and losing weight. (
