No Limit Agency is proud to welcome Sport Clips, Inc. to its growing client roster. We spoke with Sport Clips, Inc. Director of Franchising Dave Wells to give you a snapshot introduction to the growing brand.

The original Sport Clips location opened in 1993 and the company began franchising in 1995. Designed as an alternative to the “family-style haircutters” that were abundant at the time and as a replacement to the barbershops that were fading as the previous generation of barbers began to retire, Sport Clips proved to be a successful concept early on.

Sport Clips operates in a well-defined niche market in a more than $60 billion industry. The brand is the only national chain (100+ locations) to exclusively target the men and boys market and now has a presence in all 50 states. Over the last five years, its stores have experienced industry leading sales growth (an average of 8.5 percent annually) and a continuity rate (number of existing stores that have remained open year over year) of 99 percent.

Some Quick Stats

Number of stores currently open and operating: More than 1,400 stores in the U.S. and Canada.

Number of company-owned locations: 32, in Austin and Las Vegas, the designated markets for testing of new products, designs and initiatives.

Number of support team members: 1 for every 7 open stores.

Same store sales increases: 8.9% in 2010, 9.9% in 2011, 8.7% in 2012, 6.7% in 2013 and 8.3% in 2014.

2015 Growth Goals

Sport Clips will award approximately 200 licenses this year to new and existing Team Leaders (franchisees) across the country. In accordance with the multi-unit business model, these licenses will be developed on a schedule over the next three to five years. The brand expects to open more than 160 stores this year.

Dave Wells’ Number One Reason Prospective Franchisees Should Invest in Sport Clips

“Culture. Everything we do at Sport Clips is guided by a set of simple principles that in turn guide our decision making process and interactions with each other. For many coming out of corporate America, they are jaded from the pressure; the shades of grey they are forced to operate in and decision making processes that focus on shareholder expectations. Sport Clips offers a refreshing perspective that nearly every candidate who attends our Discovery Day comments on in one way or another.”
