Nation’s Restaurant News is reporting Wetzel’s Pretzels will introduce a brand overhaul in up to 40 new and existing locations this year. The new branding is designed to meet a trend toward upscale entertainment in malls.

The new store prototype, a sleeker, more sophisticated take on the traditional Wetzel’s Pretzels store, was introduced last year at the Westfield Garden State Plaza in New Jersey, an upscale mall that had recently been redesigned. The store concept was developed to blend in with that makeover.

The new Wetzel’s Pretzels design has since been applied to 16 of the chains 340 stores. By the end of 2018, the company plans to bring the concept to up to 40 more new and existing stores, including one in the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota.
