Papa John's Releases More Details of Larger Than Life Brand Partnership With Shaquille O’ Neal

The pizza chain is cashing out $4 million to rehabilitate their image with the beloved basketball star.

NBA legend Shaq joined Papa John’s board of directors back in March, but now the struggling brand is taking their partnership to the next level with a $4.125 million dollar endorsement deal.  Details of the partnership include his investment in 9 Atlanta locations, all of which will be adorned with Shaq’s signature on the outside of the building, and his size 22 footprints in the entryway. Shaq is also receiving 87,136 shares of stock valued at $4.4 million.

Shaq himself is no stranger to restaurant branding and ownership, as he owns a Krispy Kreme, a Los Angeles fine dining restaurant and at one point operated 27 Five Guys franchises. Through his own powerful, positive marketing image Shaq plans to turn the brand around, and could potentially even encourage an uptick in other franchisees.
