Planet Fitness Franchisees Donate $100K To Support Texas Flood Relief

Planet Fitness franchisees across Texas have donated a combined $100,000 to aid in relief and recovery efforts for the communities devastated by recent flooding in the Texas Hill Country.

According to Athletech News, the donation comes after historic flooding over the July 4 weekend claimed at least 134 lives and left widespread damage across Kerr, Ingram, Hunt and surrounding counties. The funds will go to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country’s Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, which provides emergency financial aid, mental health services and long-term recovery support.

“The devastation in the Texas Hill Country has deeply affected our teams in the area and the communities we serve,” said CJ Bouchard, CEO of Excel Fitness, a Texas-based Planet Fitness franchisee with 80 locations. “In moments like these, we believe it’s our responsibility to stand together and take action.”

Excel Fitness, which made a pledge of $500 per club, contributed $40,000 to the total donation. Other franchise groups participating in the effort include Taymax Group, Black Duck Partners, The Maddox Group, Planet Fitness of El Paso Texas and Las Cruces New Mexico, Houston Fitness Partners and United FP Partners.

“By joining forces with our fellow Planet Fitness franchisees, we hope this donation offers immediate relief and long-term support to families facing the difficult road ahead,” Bouchard said. “Our hearts are with everyone impacted, and we remain committed to helping the region heal and rebuild.”

The Kerrville area, the largest city in Kerr County, recently declared a water supply emergency as the community continues to recover from the destruction.

This marks the second major philanthropic effort this summer from Planet Fitness franchisees. In June, National Fitness Partners raised over $24,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The brand is also running its annual High School Summer Pass program, offering teens free access to more than 2,700 Planet Fitness locations across the U.S. and Canada.
