Plant-Based Eggs Make Their First Foray into Fast Food

Now you won’t ever wonder whether the chicken or the egg came first.

Eggs are now making their way into the QSR industry, according to a CNBC article. Tim Hortons, a Canadian coffee chain, recently began testing JUST Egg in its home market locations, the article noted.

JUST Spokesman Andrew Noyes stated, “Canada is one of the most requested markets for JUST and we’re excited to be able to offer our product at select Tim Hortons locations for this market test,” the story said.

According to a 2018 study, one-third of Americans have completely stopped eating meat or have reduced the amount of meat they’re consuming. For vegans and vegetarians, bringing another meat-free food to the table will give them more options  when eating out. Tim Hortons also introduced their Beyond Meat breakfast sandwiches and Beyond Burger, which are also plant-based.

“We are always listening to our guests and testing a wide variety of potential products in select restaurants across the country,” Jane Almeida, a Tim Hortons spokeswoman, said in the article.
