QSR: 4 Key Advantages of Cloud POS for QSRs

QSR Magazine breaks down the benefits of internet-stored point-of-sale systems

??QSR Magazine took a deep dive into cloud-based POS today, breaking down the four key advantages of the internet-based solution for quick-service restaurants.

The article, which pegs cost, simplicity, flexibility and function as the primary advantages of cloud-based POS over traditional, client-server software, argues that the new model is more than just a passing trend.

“I believe it's a lot deeper than that,” writes the article’s author, Christopher Sebes. "The truth is that cloud POS can offer real, tangible advantages in four interrelated categories.”

Ashish Tulsian, Co-Founder of POSist Technologies agrees.

“Cloud technology has been enormously important,” Tulsian told 1851. “That has enabled restaurants to completely automate their operations. A POS that can update in real time not only streamlines a restaurant’s operations, it significantly reduces the labor and scope of error involved.”

Sebes points to this year’s POS Software Trends Report from Hospitality Technology, which found that 61 percent of surveyed merchants want a cloud-based platform for their next POS, and argues that trend is likely to grow. For those still in doubt, Sebes teases an upcoming article for further reading.

“…for those operators who are still asking if cloud POS can really be counted on for the kind of reliability and overall system maturity needed to run their businesses, stay tuned, my next blog will ‘fill in those blanks,’ on that subject,” he said.
