QSR Magazine: How Firehouse Subs' CEO Navigates Coronavirus

Don Fox told QSR that a recent shift towards off-premise channels will help the brand as it deals with this crisis.

Franchise brands across a wide variety of industries are struggling during the Coronavirus outbreak and figuring out creative ways to keep business going as much as possible amid closures and shutdowns.

One such franchise brand is the fast casual chain Firehouse Subs. CEO Don Fox gave a podcast interview to QSR magazine and discussed how the sandwich brand, which has more than 1,100 locations, is navigating the issues brought on by Coronavirus.

One thing that has helped Firehouse Subs is the brand’s recent shift to off-premise channels, according to the magazine report.

Fox told the magazine that restaurant professionals need to do what’s right for the public and their team members. Also, communication will be key.

“We have a great communications network, and I think that’s very important for every system right now,” he said, according to the article. “And any brand that has weaknesses there, they’re probably being exposed.”
