QSR Magazine: NBA Superstar Dwayne Wade Enters the Fast-Casual Pizza Business

Wade plans to partner with his teammate Udonis Haslem to try to grow 800° Woodfired Kitchen.

Another NBA star has joined the fast-casual pizza game. According to a recent QSR Magazine article, Dwayne Wade has signed on with 800° Woodfired Kitchen to help the brand expand nationally and globally as a franchise partner with his teammate Udonis Haslem. The duo plans to bring the woodfired stone hearth pizza ovens and rotisseries that the chain is known for to South Florida to start.

“When I first discovered 800° Woodfired Kitchen I was impressed by the inviting atmosphere and the fact that its menu offered something for everyone,” said Wade. “As a professional athlete, I understand the importance of eating well. 800° Woodfired Kitchen raises the culinary bar by offering guests a unique dining experience with high-quality ingredients and delicious food in a relaxed setting. I’m excited to partner with a growing company as they continue to expand with new locations around the world and introduce this concept to wider audiences.”

Wade isn’t the only NBA player to get into the franchise industry or the fast-casual pizza scene. Golden State Warriors’ Kevin Durant announced his investment in Pieology in October and former teammate LeBron James signed on with Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza back in 2012 and later added an endorsement deal in 2015. Some reports say James’ stake is now worth at least $35 million.
