Noodles & Company is getting in on the veggie noodle trend. According to an article in QSR Magazine, the brand is testing its new Veggie Noodles—which are made-to-order from spiralized zucchinis—in Baltimore and one location in Broomfield, Colorado. Customers can add them as a noodle substitute in any dish for $1.50.

Jonathan Tress, vice president of marketing at Noodles & Company, said, “Veggie Noodles give our guests a lighter noodle base for enjoying our global flavors they know and love in an entirely new style. Whether guests follow gluten-free and grain-free diets, or for those who just wish to change the way they approach vegetables and build healthier eating habits, Veggie Noodles allow guests to further customize their favorite dishes according to their dietary preferences.”

That ability to cater to different dietary restrictions and preferences is fueling Noodles & Company’s new menu option. But it’s not the first step towards fresh ingredients that the brand has taken—Noodles & Company also uses 14 fresh vegetables, cage-free eggs, organic milk, naturally raised pork and tofu.
