QSR Magazine: Panera Preemptively Recalls Cream Cheese Products

The franchise recommends consumers throw away any of the product that they have in their possession.

Panera Bread has recalled all two and eight-ounce cream cheese products from its store. According to a recent article in QSR Magazine, the decision comes after the brand caught traces of Listeria monocytogenes in samples during a production day. At the time of the recall, there were no reports of illness caused by the products.

Listeria monocytogenes, when consumed, can cause strong and even fatal illness in children as well as people with weaker immune systems. Panera hopes the recall will help them avoid any possible infections caused by their cream cheese. The franchise recommends consumers throw away any of the product that they may currently have in their possession.

“The safety of our guests and associates is paramount, therefore we are recalling all cream cheese products sold in the U.S. with an active shelf life. Only one variety of 2-ounce cream cheese from a single day yielded the positive result. Our intent is to go above and beyond for our guests. You should expect nothing less from Panera,” said CEO Blaine Hurst.
