QSR Magazine: Pizza Hut Hopes to Transform 100 Million Lives with Literacy Project

The pizza franchise is partnering with First Book to provide children access to books and educational resources.

Today, QSR Magazine reported that Pizza Hut will continue it's long-standing commitment to corporate social responsibility through the launch of Pizza Hut: The Literacy Project. The pizza brand is partnering with First Book to help books become more easily accessible for students and teachers. The campaign is part of the franchise's goal of transforming the lives of 100 million people in 10 years through reading.

"Literacy is a critical, foundational life skill that can have a profound impact on quality of life, yet it is an often overlooked social issue," says Artie Starrs, President of Pizza Hut U.S. "The reality for many children growing up is that they do not have access to books in their home. Working alongside our 150,000 team members in the U.S., we are committed to helping millions of children start a new chapter by providing books and educational resources they need to reach their full potential."

Funds raised during the campaign will help educators obtain books and resources from their classrooms. Multi-platinum recording artist Nick Lachey has also joined the campaign to help raise awareness.
