QSR Magazine: The Halal Guys to Open First Austin Location

From its New York City roots, The Halal Guys move west to a new Austin location.

What started as a New York street cart is now a restaurant chain that has built a cult following. According to a recent QSR Magazine article, The Halal Guys will be opening its first Austin location on July 15 and will host a grand opening event from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

“The venture to Austin has been a long-time coming as we think the city aligns perfectly with The Halal Guys brand," said Ron Steele, Director of Operations for The Halal Guys Austin. "Our carts have become iconic in New York City and we're thrilled to bring the joy of our food to the west campus neighborhood."

The straightforward Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food that The Halal Guys offers features halal-certified chicken, gyro beef or falafel. The founding partners started the hot dog cart in 1990 not realizing the enormous demand for halal food. The brand hopes to continue its growth in order to share halal food with the world.
