QSR Magazine: Tim Horton’s Franchisees File $500M Lawsuit Against RBI

Franchisees file a $500M lawsuit over mismanagement of money in the advertising fund run by Restaurant Brands International Inc.

A group of Tim Horton franchisees are filing a lawsuit against the parent company of Burger King, Restaurant Brands International Inc. According to a recent QSR Magazine article, the Great White North Franchisee Association is looking to file a class-action suit against the company for mismanaging money that was a part of the advertising fund and funneling it into costs unrelated to the brand.

“Since the acquisition of TDL, RBI has used various strategies to extract more money out of the Tim Hortons franchise system at the expense of franchisees. One such strategy has been to use the Ad Fund in ways in which the fund had never historically been used or permitted,” the claim reads.
