REGYMEN Fitness had a big year in 2018 and is already looking to continue building momentum through 2019 and beyond. Boutique fitness concepts continue to grow in popularity as clients are seeing just how much they can maximize their workouts within shorter periods of time and in a space that provides a true community.
That’s something the company’s newest franchisee, Gretchen Mitchell, is looking to bring to the Tampa and Clearwater communities. Recently signing a three-location deal, Mitchell looks to connect with residents in the Tampa Bay, Clearwater, Palm Harbor and Safety Harbor areas.
“Fitness has been a big part of my life for the past several years after being faced with some serious health concerns,” said Mitchell. I found that having the ability to stick with a consistent workout routine and focusing on a nutrient rich diet helped me to avoid being on medication I didn’t want to take long term. I am very excited to bring REGYMEN to the Tampa and Clearwater markets as I truly believe there’s nothing else like it in the area. I really wanted the opportunity to open my own gym with all the things I love, and one that caters to all levels and feels like a community where people can socialize and network outside of a bar or a club.”
Prior to working with REGYMEN, Mitchell has a storied past as an entrepreneur and businesswoman. Mitchell had a love of learning and from a very young age. Facing challenges early in her life, she has heavily relied on her knowledge and has established a very strong work ethic.
“I originally grew up in Idaho and ultimately went on to own several businesses around Utah,” said Mitchell. “Beyond owning my own businesses, I also worked in banking for 17 years, learning everything there is to know about finance. That ultimately led me to getting an MBA and becoming certified to work in wealth management, which I still do today. REGYMEN provides me the ability to run a business I’m passionate about, while also leaving a legacy behind for my three daughters. My goal is to develop REGYMEN throughout the Tampa Bay market to a level where everyone has access to experience the community.”
REGYMEN, with Mitchell and other franchisee partners, plans to continue heavy expansion in the Tampa and Clearwater region in the coming year.
“Our goal is to have five company units in the market,” said Chief Operating Officer of REGYMEN Fitness, Nick Binnings. “We are currently looking for real estate and the total market potential for the Tampa MSA (metropolitan statistical area) will be 18+ locations. This will be done between Mitchell’s team and REGYMEN corporate. We are looking to develop more in Florida, with the entire state currently being open for franchising opportunities.”
In addition to expanding REGYMEN within the community, Mitchell shares her passion for entrepreneurship with others in the Tampa area, currently teaching entrepreneurship at the University of Tampa.
“I want my students to see that it’s possible, that if they have something they really want to build, there are resources to get it done,” said Mitchell. “For me, I am putting my combined passion of fitness and entrepreneurship into REGYMEN and plan to give back to the community at the same time.”
Being philanthropic at heart, Mitchell hopes to find multiple ways for REGYMEN to give back to the local community.
“There are several organizations I would love to partner with here,” said Mitchell. “I have served on many boards and have also done a lot with groups like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Florida. Ultimately, I want the causes we partner with to be meaningful to our clients as well. That’s why I plan to develop these initiatives on a rotating basis so we continuously work closely with members of the community.”
