Restaurant Business: Hot Dog Chains on the Rise

Restaurant operators are jumping on the hot dog trend with unique offerings.

Americans love their hot dogs and sausages, and for restaurants they are fairly inexpensive to serve. According to a recent Restaurant Business article, operators are starting to capitalize on the versatility of hot dogs and new concepts are being opened focused on the American favorite. With classic or unconventional toppings, a simple dog can become quite the meal. Alligator, kangaroo, and other alternative proteins are being used to increase the variety at restaurants.

Dog Haus signed a $500 million franchise deal with American Development Partners and will open 300 units in 12 states. Currently the brand is located in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah and locations also include a 2,800-square-foot Biergarten that offers craft beer options for customers.

New Bohemia is a Minnesota-based fast-casual franchise with six units that are for the adventurous diner. With options like blueberry-wild boar with Belgian-style frites, and 36 craft beers on tap. The company plans to open its largest location yet in St. Paul Minnesota next year.
